These are screening results — a quick check of your child’s hearing and vision. A screening is not a diagnosis.

The key to understanding your child’s results below:

“Pass” means your child’s result met the criteria associated with normal functioning in that area. It doesn’t rule out any problem, but unless you have a concern, there is no need to follow up at this time.

“Fail” means the result did not meet those criteria. Further evaluation is warranted. We recommend contacting your child’s pediatrician to report the results — and we will be in touch to help with follow-up and resources if needed.

If “excessive earwax” or “blood or foreign object” is indicated, please consult your pediatrician regardless of the other results. Do not try to remove earwax yourself unless professionally trained.

What this means & next steps

“Fail” means the result did not meet the screening criteria. Further evaluation is warranted. We recommend contacting your child’s pediatrician to report the results — and we will be in touch to help with follow-up and resources if needed.

Because excessive earwax or a blockage was noted in the ear exam, please consult your pediatrician regardless of the other results. Do not try to remove earwax yourself unless professionally trained.

“Could not test” means we weren’t able to complete this check during the screening. We recommend a follow-up so it can be re-checked.
